10 Beginner Sewing Projects

I have put together a list of 10 beginner sewing projects that sewers of any skill level can complete with small amounts of fabric and a few notions.  These projects are all fun and functional and worth spending a little bit of time to create.  Just click on the pictures to get the patterns and tutorials for each of these projects. Project 1: Pillow Cases

Creating these beautiful and colorful pillow cases is both simple and fun.  You can liven up any decor with this easy beginner sewing project.  It is truly one of the easiest projects for the beginner sewer.  I hope you will give them a try.

Project 2: Pleated Clutch

Every woman needs a handbag and this pleated clutch is the perfect beginner project with professional results.  The key is the alternating pleat colors.  You can use a bright and bold color palate like I did or use some subdued colors for a more muted look.  Either way this project is fun and simple to make for any beginner sewer.

Project 3: Hanging Hand Towels

I just love these hanging hand towels.  With just a few dollar store towels, a little remnant fabric and some craft buttons you too can create these functional and attractive hanging hand towels.  You can sew these together in a matter of a few minutes with minimal sewing skills so head to the dollar store and raid your stash for this fun project.

Project 4: Diaper Clutch

Need a fun and functional diaper clutch.  Try this simple sewing project with remnants from your stash.  This is another stash busting project that any beginner can sew in about a half hour.  Using fun fabrics makes this project a treat to sew and to carry.

Project 8: Flat Bottomed Zippered Pouch

I just love these easy to make zippered pouches. I use them for makeup, pens and pencils, sewing notions and more.  This little gem is super easy to make even though there is a zipper involved.  If you have never sewn a zipper this is the perfect project to learn how to do it.  This is another project that can be made in a half hour with perfect results every time.

Project 9: Bi-Fold Wallet

Here is another simple to make project with professional results.  This wallet only requires basic sewing skills and a little patience to sew.  You can fit your bills and credit cards into this simple to sew bi-fold wallet.  Once again some remnants and a plastic snap go a long way to creating this perfect little money holder.

Project 10: Infinity Scarf

Another super simple but beautiful project is this easy to sew infinity scarf.  All you need is a remnant for this colorful addition to your wardrobe.  I had this fabric on hand but you can buy what you need at Hobby Lobby or Fabric.com.
