If you need a simple Halloween project to spruce up your decorating for this holiday season this is the project for you.  It is easy and just too cute.  Just a few craft supplies gets this simple project done.  Except for the lollipops, I had everything on hand that I needed for this project. If you need something to complete your google eye mason jar and ghostly lollipops head over to Hobby Lobby to get what you need. This post contains affiliate links that if you click on them and make a purchase I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

What you will Need:

  • 1 Qt. Mason Jar
  • Black chalk board paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • Google Eyes (Optional)
  • Scraps of white cotton fabric
  • Twine
  • Tootsie Pops

Step 1: Make a Google Eye Mason Jar and Ghostly Lollipops

Paint your mason jar with black chalk board paint.  I like the chalk board paint because it adheres well and gives a nice matte finish to the final product. Make sure you let the paint dry over night before you paint over it.

Step 2: Make a Google Eye Mason Jar and Ghostly Lollipops

Paint black acrylic paint over the chalk board paint.  I did not paint the threads of the jar because I am using a black lid but if you do not have a black lid you will want to paint the threads as well. Make sure that the paint is completely dry before the next step. If you don’t want to paint the google eyes you can just glue goggle eyes onto the mason jar but I prefer the painted eye look myself.

Step 3: Make a Google Eye Mason Jar and Ghostly Lollipops

Paint small ovals in pairs like eyes all over the jar using the white acrylic paint.  Let the ovals dry completely.

Step 4: Make a Google Eye Mason Jar and Ghostly Lollipops

Once the white has dried, place black dots for the eyes.  Make sure you let the paint completely dry and you have finished the google eye painted mason jar. Once the jar has cured over night you should seal it with a spray matte sealer.  Now onto the Ghostly Lollipops.

Step 5: Make a Google Eye Mason Jar and Ghostly Lollipops

Take a 6″ x 6″ square of white cotton fabric and cover the tootsie pops.  Wrap twine around the fabric and the lollipop stem to hold the fabric.

Step 6: Make a Google Eye Mason Jar and Ghostly Lollipops

Paint black eyes onto the white fabric to create the ghostly appearance.   You have finished your ghostly lollipops.

Step 7: Make a Google Eye Mason Jar and Ghostly Lollipops

Put the lollipops into the mason jar and offer it to the kids for a tasty ghostly treat. In order for the lollipops to stand up I stuffed my mason jar with fabric scraps but you could fill yours with black rice if you are not using a lid.
