How to Make an Easy DIY Glasses Case

Easy DIY Glasses Case

I am all about using remnants in my sewing when I can because you can get them at 50% – 75% off.  For this project you can use remnants or fat quarters to make a really cute and easy DIY glasses case.  This pattern requires two pieces of fabric and either a plastic snap or Velcro to use as a closure.  This whole project takes about 20 minutes to make from beginning to end and is for any level of sewer.

What you will Need:

  • Remnant or fat quarter of exterior fabric
  • Remnant or fat quarter of lining fabric
  • Interfacing like Pellon 808
  • Fusible fleece
  • Plastic snaps or Velcro.

Step 1: Easy DIY Glasses Case

Cut the outer piece of fabric in a rectangle measuring 7 1/2″ x 10 3/4″.  Cut the lining fabric in a rectangle measuring 7 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.  Take care to make sure that any directional fabric is cut longways.  Cut the interfacing and fusible fleece in the same sizes.

Step 5: Easy DIY Glasses Case

Lay the lining piece on top of the outer piece so that they are right sides together.  Both pieces should be the same size at this point.  Sew along the sides and top leaving the bottom open.

Step 6: Easy DIY Glasses Case

Turn the case through the open bottom so that the lining is on the outside of the case.  Hand sew the bottom closed using ladder stitch.

Step 8: Easy DIY Glasses Case

Add a plastic snap to the center flap and the center of the body.  If you don’t have any plastic snaps you can purchase the whole kit here  or you can use a piece of Velcro to secure the flap to the body and you have finished your glasses case.

  1. Great eye glass case. My husband asked me to make one for him, so I started looking on Pinterest. I found this one and love the fabric. Can you tell me where to purchase it. Thanks.
