Easy Reversible Holiday Table Runner

This is a super easy reversible holiday table runner. I had some Thanksgiving and Christmas remnants that were large enough to make this easy reversible holiday table runner.  I used the cute Thanksgiving Turkeys on one side of my runner and the sparkly evergreen and pine cone fabric for the other side.  Both of these fabrics had green as a primary color so I took some green embroidery floss and made tassels for the ends of my table runner.  Making the tassels is also a super simple process and adds just a little bit extra to this simple project.

What you will Need:

• Remnant or 1 yd of Holiday fabric
• Remnant or 1 yd of Holiday fabric
• Embroidery floss
• Standard sewing supplies

Step 1: Easy Reversible Holiday Table Runner

Start your project by determining the size of your runner.  You can make it any size you like.  Mine was dictated by the size of the remnants that I had on hand and turned out to be 60″ x 20″.

I wanted pointed ends on my runner so I folded the ends to a point and pressed.  Cut the excess off along the press lines so that you have matching points on both ends of both pieces of fabric.  You should have two pieces of fabric that are the same size and shape but different holiday patterns.

Make the tassels by taking a package of embroidery floss and wrapping half of it around your hand.

Once you have completed wrapping the floss remove it from your hand and take a single piece of floss and tie it around one end. Tie a knot.  Take another piece of floss and wrap it around the top of the tassel near the knotted end.  Push the end through the wrapping.  I threaded a needle and put the needle through.

Cut the bottom of the floss so the ends are free.  You have now created your tassel.

Place the two pieces of fabric right sides together.  Nestle the tassel knotted end between the fabric pieces at the end point with the tassel inside the fabric pieces and clip.

Using a 1/4″ seam allowance sew around the entire piece leaving a 4″ opening for turning.

Step 8: Easy Reversible Holiday Table Runner

Turn the runner right sides out and press.  Your tassels should be hanging from the points.  Sew the opening closed using ladder stitch and you have finished your easy reversible holiday table runner.
