Believe me when I say that there is no better platform to driving traffic to your blog than Pinterest. It is easy to promote your website and web posts using Pinterest by following these easy steps.

This article will tell you how to increase your blog traffic using Pinterest and you can receive your free pinning schedule by signing up for my newsletter. This post contains affiliate links that if you click on them and make a purchase I may receive a small commission at no extra charge to you.

While Facebook is the most used social media site on the net, Pinterest will unquestionably drive significantly more traffic to your site.  However, there are things that you need to know about Pinterest in order to make it successful for you.  I have included the basics here along with a Free Tailwind and Manual Pinning Schedule to get you started on the way to Pinterest success.

Create a Pinterest Business Account

First you will need to open a business account or convert your present account to a business account.  This is easy to do.  If you are creating a Pinterest account for the first time go to https://business.pinterest.com/en and click on “Join as a Business” and follow the instructions on the “Grow your business popup” to create an account.  Once your account has been created you will be given the option to choose five topics relevant to your business.  As you start to pin, other topics will appear and your home feed will look something like this:

If you already have a personal Pinterest account you should convert it to a business account.  Simply log into your personal account and click on your Pinterest image in the top right corner.  Click on “My Profile.” Above your Pinterest Name you will see three small dots.  Click on those and a dropdown menu will appear.  In that menu click “Switch to business account.” Then fill out the business name and business type along with the website name and click done.

The next thing you have to do is to confirm your website.  This is very important.  All of your Pinterest Stats will be based on the fact that you have confirmed your site.  You can see which pins are getting the most activity and which are getting the most click-throughs to your site.

How do you confirm your site? Just go to the analytics tab on your Pinterest page.  Click on “website” and “confirm website.”  Copy the meta tag.  Then log into your WordPress dashboard.

You must have the free Yoast SEO plugin to confirm your website.  You will notice that Yoast places an SEO tab on your WordPress side bar.  Click on SEO then Social.  Once in Social, click on the Pinterest Tab and insert the meta tag that Pinterest gave you in the Pinterest confirmation box and click save.

Go back to Pinterest and click “finish.”  It will take a day or two before your site is verified.

Sign up for Rich Pins

What are Rich Pins and why do you want them?  Rich Pins provide more context about an idea because they show extra information directly on a Pin. It provides the reader with context that will urge them to click on your pin and go to your site.  You only have to enable Rich Pins once to have them enabled on all of your pins.  To do so you must have Yoast SEO enabled on your site with advanced settings enabled.  Once that is completed you simply need to click here to enable Rich Pins. You will need to submit a URL from a post on your site to be validated but after that all of your pins will be Rich Pins.  It is as simple as that.

Start Pinning

There are two ways to pin your ideas to Pinterest.  The fist is manual pinning and the second is a scheduler like Tailwind or Boardbooster.  I recommend doing a combination of both manually pinning and scheduled pinning.  Believe me there are many times that you will wish you had pre-scheduled your pins and Tailwind and Boardbooster allow you to do that quickly and easily.  Today I am going to talk about Tailwind.

What is Tailwind?

Tailwind is an approved Pinterest partner and a scheduling tool for Pinterest. It allows you to bulk schedule your pins for days, or even weeks, in advance.  Believe me when I tell you that having a pinning strategy is a winning formula for Pinterest and for you.  Since using a scheduler I have increased my blog traffic by 1000% in 6 weeks.  I have been utterly amazed at the transformation of the traffic to my website. Here is the proof in my Google Analytics overview.
