How to Make a DIY Circle Pillow

How to Make a DIY Circle pillow

Pillows are a super simple way to use remnants for home decor.  I created this DIY circle pillow for my guest bedroom and was really pleased with how it turned out. It is a nice big size.  I wanted to make sure it was a good size for the bed.  This is a beginner sewing project that anyone with basic sewing skills can make in about an hour.  It is fun and functional and depending on the fabrics you choose will fit perfect in any home’s decor.  I love pillows.  They soften all the hard edges and fill up a lot of blank space with color and texture.

For this project I delved into my remnant stash.  I am pretty sure I purchased these remnants at JOANN Fabric & Craft Stores.  But if you don’t have a fabric stash like mine head to Hobby Lobby, Fabric.com or onlinefabricstore.net to get exactly what you need to match your home’s decor.  This post contains affiliate links that if you click on them and make a purchase I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

What you will Need: How to Make a DIY Circle Pillow

What you will need Circle Pillow

Step 1: Cut out Your Fabrics

From the pattern piece cut four fabric pieces and four of the coordinating fabric pieces.

Cut your fabrics

Step 2: Stitch the Circle Pillow Pieces

Take two different colored pieces and place them right sides together and stitch using a 5/8″ seam allowance.  Add the next triangle piece and stitch making sure to alternate fabrics until you have four pieces stitched together.  This will make a half circle.  Stitch the other four pieces together in the same way making sure that when you place the two half circles right sides together the fabrics still alternate.

Using the bag of polyester fiberfil stuff the pillow to the firmness that you like.  Once you have finished stuffing the pillow close the opening using ladder stitch.  If you are unfamiliar with ladder stitch check out this video.  You have now finished your DIY circle pillow.
