How to Make a Dollar Tree Valentine’s Door Hanging
Dollar Tree crafts are so much fun to make. I really enjoy making them and they are inexpensive. This Dollar Tree Valentine’s Door Hanging is super simple but really makes a great impact. I was able to obtain everything from Dollar Tree except the word Love which I was able to get at Hobby Lobby. In any event, this is primarily a Dollar Tree Craft. What You will Need
A list of all of the items you need with links to get them.
Step 1: Paint the Heart
Remove the twine. Paint the heart using white acrylic paint. Make sure it is completely dry before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: Add Mod Podge
Once the paint is dry add a coat of Mod Podge. Let the Mod Podge dry before moving on.
Step 3: Add the Tissue Paper
Once the tissue paper has been laid on top of the heart place some parchment paper on top and press with a hot iron. The glue willslightly melt and adhere the tissue paper to the heart. It will also smooth out any of the wrinkles in the paper.
Step 4: Re-coat with Mod Podge
Once the heart is cool and dry coat with another coat of Mod Podge and let dry completely.
Step 5: Create the Arrow
I used a self adhesive tile from Dollar Tree to cover my arrow. I simply took off the back plastic which leaves the sticky side of the tile. Place the arrow on the sticky tile and cut around the arrow using a craft knife and a self repairing mat.
Step 6: Paint the Arrow
Paint the arrow any color you like. I painted mine with red acrylic paint making sure the paint covers the back and sides.
Step 7: Enhance the Arrow
I used a baby wipe and some white paint to enhance my arrow.
Step 8: Paint the Word Love
You can paint the word all one color. I chose to paint mine in red, white, silver and pink colors. Let dry completely.
Step 9: Hot Glue the Word
Hot glue the word to the top of the arrow.
Step 10: Glue the Arrow to the Heart
Hot glue the arrow to the heart diagonally.
Step 11: Restring the Beads
Remove the beads from the heart shaped wire and restring them to the string you removed from the heart.
Step 12: Add the Beads
place one end of the string through one of th holes in the hearty through the back and tie a knot in the front. Repeat for the other side. Once you have added the beads you have finished your Dollar Tree Valentine’s Door Hanging.
