How to make a mousepad with wrist support

I have been using my computer from home a lot lately.  My computer at the office has a mouse pad with a wrist support that really helps.  I decided that I needed one for home and of course wanted a pretty one that is not black so I made it myself and thought to share this project with you.  This is a super simple sewing project that anyone with beginner sewing skills can make.  This is a fun one too.  It really takes just a bit of fabric, interfacing and a small amount of time to create.  I absolutely love how this project turned out.  You will too.

I chose some fun fabric for my mousepad that I purchased online at JOANN Fabric & Craft Stores  It is a quilting cotton that I used in another project and had left over.  I added some Pellon 808 and some fusible fleece to make this project perfect that I also got at JOANN Fabric & Craft Stores online.  Of course you can head to Hobby Lobby or Fabric.com to get your materials for this project.  This post contains affiliate links that if you click on them I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Step 3: Stitch the mousepad together

With right sides together stitch the bottom starting at the corner and up the side all the way around to the other side finishing 2″ from the bottom of the other side and back stitching. Turn right sides out through the opening. Press well. Measure up 2″ and draw a line.  Stitch a line directly across the 2″ line so that there is an opening in the side of the mousepad like a tunnel.

Step 4: fill with rice and fiberfill

Fill the opening with fiberfill and pack as much as will be comfortable for you.  Sew the opening closed using ladder stitch.  You have now finished this simple beginner mousepad with wrist support.  If you are unfamiliar with ladder stitch check out this video. Otherwise enjoy your new mousepad.
