This is a beautiful Butterfly Pocketbook Clutch. To make a pattern for this bag, simply follow the instructions in my previous metal framed purse designs. It is very easy to do and there are many online sources for metal purse frames. I love metal framed purses. They have a bit of a retro feel and are something you can’t simply buy off the shelf. There are so many different metal frames that you can make yours contemporary, retro, or Victorian, whatever suits your style. In this bag I used a bright batik fabric for the lining which gives the bag a sense of fun. Every time you open the bag you brighten your day with a pop of vibrant color chosen to your personal taste. I happen to love teal and it went perfectly with the exterior fabric I used in this bag.
Description of the Butterfly Pocketbook Clutch
You can carry this bag with or without the handles. It is totally up to you. The exterior of the bag is made from home decorators weight cotton fabric with colorful butterflies and text while the interior is made of a bright teal colored batik. This bag has an 8″ metal kiss frame and measures 13 1/2″ on the bottom and is 7 1/2″ high. It is 4″ wide at the bottom. The handles are made from the same butterfly fabric and attach using swivel clips that match the brass colored frame. The handles measure 10 1/2″ from the top of the frame to the middle of the handles, so long enough to carry over the shoulder and short enough to carry by hand. The handles are easily removable if you simply want to use it as a clutch. The bag is supported wit heavy weight interfacing and fusible fleece to give it both body and softness. This is a terrific occasional bag or one to use all the time.
