Make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath

Make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath

As many of you know I have a bunch of bleached drop cloth left over from my Make a Drop Cloth Pom Pom Throw tutorial.  I have decided to see the different projects I can make from it and made the Drop Cloth Pom Pom Throw Pillow. This time I decided to make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath.  This is a project that anyone can make and requires no sewing at all.  It does require use of a hot glue gun which I must admit is a challenge for me.  Making the rosettes is a simple process. Attaching them to the wreath form is also a simple process.  Doing it without burning my fingers was problematic for me but I know it can be done. I suppose it is time for me to invest in a low temp glue gun.  Who knows?

Any way, I just love how this turned out. The wreath has the perfect rustic farmhouse feel that I was going for but with just a pop of color in the ribbon.  I love color so I didn’t want to keep it just plain white though you could do that if that is your taste.  It would be just as easy to add a monochromatic ribbon rather than one with a color as I did.  It is completely up to you.  Either way this is a super simple way to create the perfect year round wreath for your home.

What you will Need:

Step 1: Make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath

Create the rosettes.  Cut the drop cloth into strips that measure 5″ x  16″ and 3″ x 16″.  You will Need approximately 30 strips more or less.  Cut each of the strips in half lengthwise using wavy lines.  You should now have 60 strips more or less.

Step 2: Make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath

Take one end of the strip and fold it in half.  Roll the strip a few times then stop. This will be the center of the flower.  You no longer have to hold the strip in half.

Step 3:  Make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath

Begin twisting the strip as you rotate it around the center you just created.   This creates the petals of the flower.  Continue to hold the flower as you twist and rotate the strip.

Step 4:  Make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath

Once you get to the end, hot glue the end to the bottom of the flower.  You may notice that some of the flower comes unwound. Just add a dollop of hot glue to secure it.

Step 5:  Make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath

You will have two sizes of rosettes. Hot glue them to the wreath form alternating the sizes.  Glue the rosettes all the way around the wreath form.

Step 6: Make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath

Add a piece of 1 1/2″ wide piece of ribbon as a hanger for the wreath.

Step 6: Make a Drop Cloth Rosette Wreath

Make a burlap bow to decorate the wreath.  If you would like to make a bow like the one I used try out my tutorial on how to make a burlap bow.
