Of course I have a lot of Christmas themed remnant fabric so I needed an easy project to make with it.  I decided that a three dimensional stuffed Christmas tree would fit the bill.  This is a project that I saw on Pinterest and decided to share it with you.  It is a beginning sewing project that anyone can create in a very short amount of time.  When you are finished this tree will be perfect for Christmas decorating.

What you will Need:

  • Pattern
  • 1 fat quarter or fabric remnant
  • Fiberfill
  • 1 large button
  • Ribbon
  • Standard sewing supplies.

Step 1: Three Dimensional Stuffed Christmas Tree

Tape the two pattern pieces together to create a tree shape.

Step 2: Three Dimensional Stuffed Christmas Tree

Use the pattern to cut four trees.

Step 3: Three Dimensional Stuffed Christmas Tree

With right sides together sew the perimeter of the trees together leaving the bottom open.  You should have two complete trees. Clip the curves and the corners.  Turn right side out.

Step 4: Three Dimensional Stuffed Christmas Tree

Lay the two trees on top of each other in a stack matching the branches. Sew a line down the center of the two trees.  You should now have one tree made up of four cells.

Step 5: Three Dimensional Stuffed Christmas Tree

Stuff the tree.  I found it easier to stuff the tops of each cell first before stuffing the remainder of the tree.

Step 6: Three Dimensional Stuffed Christmas Tree

Pin the bottom cells together.  Whip stitch the cells closed.
