How to Make a Rustic Fabric Christmas Ornament
If you want a rustic Christmas this ornament is for you. This is a super simple Christmas ornament that can be made from fabric scraps, a Styrofoam ball and some twine. It is a lovely little ornament that takes just minutes to make and will really make your holiday its rustic best. I had scraps of plaid Christmas fabrics and some twine that I used for this project. Definitely check out your stash or run to the remnant bin at your local fabric store for this project. It takes very little fabric to complete so no need to invest in a lot for this little project. Luckily I had two Styrofoam balls left over from a project from last year so I used them.
What you will Need:
- Scraps of rustic fabric or burlap
- Twine
- Glue
- Small pins
- 3″ Styrofoam ball
Step 1: How to Make a Rustic Fabric Christmas Ornament
Attach a small piece of twine in a loop shape on the top of your ball using the glue. This will be your hanger for the ornament.
Step 2: How to Make a Rustic Fabric Christmas Ornament
Cut strips of fabric 1″ x 10 1/4″ to cover the entire ball. Start with one strip so that the middle of the strip covers the area of the hanger and the ends are on the bottom.
Step 3: How to Make a Rustic Fabric Christmas Ornament
Continue to wrap the strips around the ball so that all of the ends finish in the same place. You could glue the fabric to the ball here but it is messy so I chose to use three small pins to anchor all of the layers of fabrics to the ball.
Step 4: How to Make a Rustic Fabric Christmas Ornament
Wrap some of the twine around the center for decoration.
Step 5: How to Make a Rustic Fabric Christmas Ornament
Add a twine bow around the hanger and you have finished your rustic fabric Christmas ornament.
