How to Sew a Simple Christmas Ornament

What you will Need: How to Sew a Simple Christmas Ornament

Step 1: Cut your Fabric

Using the pattern pieces cut out two body pieces and one hat piece.

Step 2: Stitch the Body

Take the body pieces and fold them in half lengthwise right sides together. Stitch them on all sides using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Leave an opening in the stitching for turning.

Step 2: Turn the Body

Turn the body right sides out and press.

Step 3: Add the Twine

Take a piece of twine that measures 10″. Place one body piece on your work surface as shown. Fold the twine in half and lay it on the first body piece. Sandwich the twine so that the two body pieces create a star shape. Pin in place.

Step 4: Topstitch

Topstitch all the way around the pieces making sure to enclose the openings and catching the twine.

Step 5: Add the Bead

Thread the twine through the bead. Place a bit of hot glue to secure the bead to the body.

Step 6: Stitch the Hat

Turn the curved part of the hat under 1/4″ and stitch. Fold the hat in half right sides together lengthwise. Stitch the long raw edges using a 1/4″ seam allowance leaving a small opening at the top. Turn the hat right sides out.

Step 7: Add the Hat

Place the hat on top of the bead and feed the twine through the hole. Place a little hot glue on the bead to secure the hat to the bead.

Step 8: Add the Eyes

Using the Sharpie place two dots on the bead for eyes.

Step 9: Glue the Button

Glue the button to the front of the body in the center.

Step 12: Add the Small Jingle Bell

Thread the twine through the small jingle bell and place a bit of hot glue to secure it. You can also use a pom pom or a bead if you like. You have now finished your simple Christmas ornament.
