Tassel USB Key Chain
Tassel USB Key Chain
I am always forgetting to charge the tablet I carry in my purse so I found the perfect idea courtesy of Urban Outfitters to solve this problem. The Tassel USB Key Chain is the perfect solution to my charging woes. It is easy to make and requires just a few items you may already have on hand. This tutorial will walk you step by step on how to make this easy but very useful item and it is totally no sew. I used metallic faux leather for my key chain but you can use any leather or faux leather product. If you don’t have leather or faux leather on hand you can head over to Michaels.com or Fabric.com to purchase exactly what you need.
What you will Need:
- 1/4 yd of faux or real leather
- One 1/2″ swivel clip
- One 8 1/2″ USB charging cord
- Hot glue
- Scissors
Step 1: Tassel USB Key Chain
Cut 2 pieces of faux leather or leather 5″ H x 4″ W and a piece that is 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ and another that is 1/2″ x 3″.
Step 2: Tassel USB Key Chain
Take the 1/2″ x 3″ piece and wrap it around the center of the USB cord and through the swivel clip and hot glue.
Step 3: Tassel USB Key Chain
Take one of the 5″ x 4″ piece and draw a line 1/2″ down along the long side.
Step 4: Tassel USB Key Chain
Cut thin strips from the bottom to the line you just drew. I made my strips 1/4″ wide. Repeat with the second piece measuring 5″ x 4″
Step 5: Tassel USB Key Chain
Wrap the strips around the top of the folded USB cord and leather and glue each set of strips with hot glue.
Step 6: Tassel USB Key Chain
Wrap the 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ piece around the top of the strips for a finished look. You have now completed your Tassel USB Key Chain.
