Christmas Applique Pillow
Christmas Applique Pillow
This Christmas Applique Pillow is easy and fun to make. I love the little Scotties that decorate the pillow in the green and red of Christmas. I used some cute Christmas Scottie fabric that I had in my stash for this project. This pillow is stuffed with fiberfill and sewn closed but you could use a pillow form and zipper if you like.
What you will Need:
- Pattern
- 1 yd of natural utility fabric
- 1 fat quarter or remnant of Christmas fabric
- Heat and Bond or similar fusible webbing
- Fiberfill or pillow form
- Hot Iron
- Standard Sewing supplies

Step 1: Christmas Applique Pillow
Fuse one side of the fusible web to your Christmas fabric. Cut out the pattern piece and lay it on the Christmas fabric. Draw around the pattern piece using a disappearing pen such as Frixion and cut out the pieces. You will need three Scottie dogs for this pattern.

Step 2: Christmas Applique Pillow
Cut two pieces of the utility fabric to measure 28″ x 13″. Draw a line 3 1/2″ from the long end of one of the pieces of utility fabric using a disappearing pen. Then measure in 4″ from each short end and make a mark on the long line. These lines will help you to line up the Scotties.

Step 4: Christmas Applique Pillow
Place the Scotties on the long line equidistant apart starting at the first cross and ending at the last cross.

Step 5: Christmas Applique Pillow
Remove the paper backing and fuse the Scotties to the utility fabric. You can either leave the Scotties just fused or you can sew around them. I chose to sew a straight stitch around my Scotties for a more rustic look. You could use zigzag stitch or other decorative stitches if you like.

Step 6: Christmas Applique Pillow
With right sides together sew the two pieces of utility fabric together all the way around but leaving an opening for turning and stuffing.
Step 7: Christmas Applique Pillow
Turn the fabric so the Scotties are on the outside. Stuff with fiberfill and sew up the opening using mattress stitch.
