I love Christmas sewing and crafting projects. It is my favorite time of the year. There are so many Christmas crafts to make and sew and this patchwork star ornament is one. It is a super simple beginner sewing project that allows you to make loads of them in minutes. Decorate your entire tree with these stars if you like. What you will Need: How to make a patchwork star Christmas ornament
- 2 different colors of Christmas fabric
- Hot iron
- Standard sewing supplies
- Mini Jingle Bells
- Twine for hanging
Step 1: Cut the Fabrics
Cut four 4″ x 4″ squares of each colored fabric
Step 2: Fold the squares
Fold the squares in half and then in half again. Press. Open the fabric. Fold the corners to the center and press. Press one side is to the center and then the adjacent side to the center and press. Repeat for all eight squares. The shape should look like a kite.
Step 3: Create the Star
Find the lengthwise center of one of the shapes you created and make a mark. Place the left side of the top of the kite shape so that it meets the center of the first piece and pin. Find the center of the piece you just added and make a mark. Place the next kite shape in the same way. Repeat until all eight shapes have been added alternating colors as you go and all of the points meet in the center. When you get to the last shape, place the end under the first shape.
Step 4: topStitch the Star
Topstitch around the shapes one at a time starting in the center until all shapes have been stitched.
Step 5: Add the Bells
Hand stitch the bells to each of the stars points.
Step 6: Add the hanger
Fold a piece of twine in half and hand stitch the twine to the star with the folded end facing up to create a hanger. Once you have stitched the hanger you have finished your patchwork Christmas star Christmas Ornament.
