- Pattern you can get by clicking on this link
- SVG you can get by clicking on this link
- 1/4 yd White and black fleece
- Orange Felt
- Black Felt
- Polyester fiberfill
- Sewing machine
- Standard sewing supplies
- Cricut (Optional)
- Wonder Under — Optional
- Halloween Ribbon — Optional
Step 1: Print and Cut the Pattern
Print out the pattern. Cut the number of pieces stated on the pattern pieces. I have created an SVG if you have a Cricut or other cutting machine. You can either hand cut the pattern or use your Cricut. You can enlarge this pattern to whatever size you like. My Jack-o-Lantern pillows are small but you can enlarge yours.
Step 2: Create the Body of the Jack-o-Lantern
There are six white body pieces. Place two of them right sides together and stitch on one side using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Place a third piece right sides together with the pair and stitch so that you have three pieces. Create another set of three pieces.
Step 3: Create the Face
There are three face pieces. The eyes, nose and mouth. I used felt to create the face because it does not fray. You only need to cut one of each face piece.
Step 4: Add the Face
Place the face pieces on one of the three piece body pieces you have stitched. Top stitch the pieces in place as shown. You can use Wonder Under if you like to keep the face pieces in place but I just pinned them.
Step 5: Create the Stem
Place the stem pieces right sides together and stitch along the top and sides leaving the bottom open. Stuff the stem with fiberfill leaving a little bit on the bottom empty.
Step 6: Add the Pumpkin Stem
Place the stem right sides together with the three pieces that you placed the face. Baste the stem to the middle of the three pieces matching the raw edges.
Step 7: Stitch the Pumpkin Body
Place the two three piece sections right sides together with the stem in between. Stitch along the raw edges leaving an opening for turning and stuffing. Turn right sides out and stuff completely full using the fiberfill. Close the opening using ladder stitch.
Step 8: Add the Bow
This step is optional. You can create a bow using Halloween ribbon. I always struggled to make a good bow. Then I took the bow making class from Julie at Southern Charm wreaths and it rocked my bow making world. If you would like to learn how to make the perfect bow click this link. Stitch or add the bow to the top of the Jack-o-Lantern either by stitching or hot glue. You have now finished your Jack-o-Lantern Throw Pillow. Enjoy!!
