Felt Christmas Light Ornaments
Felt Christmas Light Ornaments
It’s the Christmas season so I thought I would write this Felt Christmas Light Ornaments Tutorial. These ornaments are easy to make, fun and colorful. Perfect for the Christmas season. All you need is some brightly colored felt, a little fiberfill, some ribbon and some thread and you are on your way. You can purchase felt squares at your local fabric or craft store that is perfect for this project.
What You Will Need:
- Pattern
- Several squares of different colored felt including yellow
- Several 8″ lengths of 3/16″ ribbon
- Small amount of fiberfill
- Black Tread
Step 1: Felt Christmas Light Ornaments
Cut out the lights using a variety of bright colors. Cut 2 of each color. I chose 8 different colors that I had on hand. Sew the matching colors together 3/4 of the way around using blanket stitch. If you are unfamiliar with blanket stitch, take a look at this video and you will be an expert in no time.
Step 2: Felt Christmas Light Ornaments
Once you have sewn the matching pieces together 3/4 of the way around add the fiberfill. Close the remaining opening of the light piece with blanket stitch. You should have what looks like a small football.
Step 3: Felt Christmas Light Ornaments
Next, fold the ribbon in half and pin it to the center of the top of the light piece. Then take the top piece and wrap it around the light piece encompassing the ribbon. Sew all the way around the top piece using blanket stitch.
Step 4: Felt Christmas Light Ornaments
Once the ornament has been sewn completely using blanket stitch, take a few minutes to sew a few stitches on the top piece horizontally to simulate the threads of the bulb. Now you are finished with your Felt Christmas Light Ornaments.
