How to Make a Punch Bowl Pumpkin
I love holiday crafts. I especially like Dollar Tree crafts. Dollar Tree punch bowls were used for this project. Hobby Lobby had loads of ribbon on sale that I thought would be perfect for this Punch Bowl Pumpkin. I have to say that this project was super simple to make and really came out beautifully. Anyone with basic crafting skills can create this autumn craft project. If you would like more holiday projects check out my holiday project vault. What you will Need: How to Make a Punch Bowl Pumpkin
- 2 Dollar Tree Punch Bowls
- Orange spray paint
- Antique wax
- Wax Brush
- Pumpkin stem
- Ribbon of your choosing — I used several
- Dollar Tree autumn flowers
- Hobby Lobby autumn picks
- Super glue
- Hot Glue
- Bowdabra — Optional
- Burlap flower embellishment
Step 1: Glue the Punch Bowls Together
Place some super glue around the rim of one of the punch bowls. Place the the rim of the other punch bowl on top. It should glue together quickly.
Step 2: Spray Paint the Two Punch Bowls
I used orange spray paint and covered the entire piece. I used two coats to get total coverage. Let the spray paint dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 3: Wax the Entire Piece
Using the antique wax and a wax brush brush the piece to give it an antique feel. Put as much or as little as you like. It is totally up to you. Let the wax dry for about 2 hours. Buff the entire piece to get the finish you want.
Step 4: Add the Pumpkin Stem
I purchased some pumpkin stems from Amazon. I had a few left over from another project. Hot glue the stem to the top of the piece in the center. I used a real dried pumpkin stem but there are many imitation ones as well.
Step 5: Add the Flowers and Greenery
To the pumpkin stem, add a variety of flowers and greenery so that they extend to the sides of the stem as shown. This is really just adding the flowers and greenery to suit your eye. I started with a pile of faux flowers and greenery and just added them until I was satisfied with the look.
Step 6: Create the Bow
I used my Bowdabra to create the bows for this project. If you would like to see how the Bowdabra works check out my Halloween wreath project. Of course you can hand make your bows but I really like the Bowdabra for this purpose. I first created a bow from some plaid ribbon I got from Hobby Lobby. This ribbon was 2.5″ wide. Attach the bow on top of the greeenery and the bowls. Create a slightly smaller bow using a solid color ribbon. I used green autumn ribbon that was 1.5″ wide. Hot glue that bow on top of the first one.
Step 7: Add a Center Embellishment
I added an orange burlap flower that I have had for ages to the center of the second bow. You could use a button or some other embellishment for the center of your bow.
