How to Make a Small Dollar Tree Carry-All

I saw this project somewhere on Facebook so I thought I would give it a go. It is a super cute small Dollar Tree Carry-All. As usual for these projects head over to your local Dollar Tree. If you do not have a Dollar Tree near you most of the items in this project can be found at other craft stores. I chose not to make this a holiday project even though it is holiday time. I intended to use mine for my salt and pepper shakers and napkins but decided to use it for my pens and pencils instead. If you love Dollar Tree crafts as much as I do head over to my Dollar Tree page for many more.

What you will Need: How to Make a Small Dollar Tree Carry-All

Step 1: Paint the Pieces

Paint all of the wood pieces and the outside of the picture frames the color of your choice. I used two coats of white for each.

Step 2: Glue the Mini Crates

Using your hot glue attach the crates together on the sides.

Step 3: Add the Paper

Cut the paper and decoupage it to the canvas and the bottom of the crate. Cut two more pieces that measure 2 1/2″ x 5 3/4″ for the sides. Place Mod Podge on the surface then the paper and let dry. Cover the paper with 3 coats of Mod Podge letting it dry between coats.

Step 4: Add the Canvas Panels

Step 5: Add the Wood Pieces

Cut the wood pieces so that that they cover the sides of the crates where the handles are. Glue them in place over the handles.

Step 6: Glue the Crates to the Paddle Boards

Again, using your hot glue attach the paddle boards to each end of the crates.

Step 7: Add the Dowel

Cut the dowel to measure 9″. There are holes at the top of the paddle boards. Thread the dowel through the two holes. I hade enlarge the holes slightly by sticking some needle nose pliers in the holes and twisting.

Step 8: Glue the Candle Cups

Glue the candle cups to the ends of the dowel. Paint them a different color if you like.

Step 9: Add the Wax and Electrical Tape

I added the wax all over the piece by brushing it on and then wiping it off. Let the wax dry then buff with a clean cloth.

Step 10: Add the Ribbon

Take the coordinating ribbon and tie it into two small bows. Hot glue the bows to each side of the carry all. You have now finished your Dollar Tree Carry All. Fill it and enjoy.
