Easter is coming soon. It is the holiest time of year so I thought I would make a religious faux wood book stack to decorate my home for this important time of year. This is a super simple crafting project to make and really hits home the importance of the Easter season. I was pleased with how this project turned out. I hope you like it too. What you will need: How to Make an Easter Religious faux book stack

Step 1: Paint the Crate

Paint the crate using white chalk paint or acrylic paint. You may need a few coats to completely cover the crate.

Step 2: Add the Words

I used the clear Dollar Tree stamp pad and stamps so that my words would be straight and in line. You can use any stamps, stencil, vinyl cutout or hand writing to write the words. I chose the word He Has Risen for my book stack.

Step 3: Age the Crate

Using the walnut stain distress oxide and a round brush cover the edges of the crate and some of the sides and bottom to create age and depth.

Step 4: Paint the Cross

The cross I chose is a lighted cross that I purchased at Michael's last year. The cross has flowers and leaves on the front. I decided to paint the flowers and leaves a variety of colors. Once the paint was dry I covered the cross completely with brown paint that I added with baby wipes to imitate a stain. This process gives the wood a stained appearance and the flowers a faded look.

Step 5: Add the Twine

Wrap some twine around the end of the crate opposite the words.

Step 6: Add the Greenery

Add a few sprigs of greenery to the twine side of the crate. Paint a heart and add it to the center.

Step 7: Place the Cross on the Crate

Using a combination of hot glue and wood glue attach the cross onto the bottom of the crate which is now the top of the book stack.
