Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar
Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar
I always have empty jars and dollar store finds on hand for my various projects. In this case, I had a dollar store candle holder and an empty pasta sauce jar so I decided to make a Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar. Rather than Red and Green, I decided to make this candy jar from Blue and white so it can be used for Hanukkah as well. I also wanted a chalky matte finish to this jar so I used chalkboard paint and standard acrylic paints.
What you will Need:
- 1 Dollar store candle holder
- 1 Empty jar
- Mason Jar Handle (Optional)
- Painter’s tape
- chalkboard paint
- Acrylic paint
- Small drawer pull
Step 1: Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar
Place some painters tape to the middle of the jar so that about 1/3 of the bottom is exposed.
Step 2: Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar
Paint the candle holder, the bottom of the jar and the lid with black chalkboard paint. Allow the paint to dry about an hour before painting a second coat. Let dry over night.
Step 3: Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar
Paint the bottom of the jar, the candle holder and the lid blue. Allow the paint to dry before adding a second coat. Allow to dry completely for about an hour.
Step 4: Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar
Paint some white stars on the blue background and let dry.
Step 5: Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar
Spray the painted surfaces with a clear protective coating. Remove the tape.
Step 6: Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar
Glue the candle holder to the bottom of the jar using e6000 or other strong craft glue. Glue the drawer pull to the top pf the lid.
Step 7: Dollar Store Christmas Candy Jar
Once the glue has dried add the jar handle if you like. Fill with candy and you are finished.
