How to Make a Double Zipper Makeup Bag

How to make a double zipper makeup bag

This double zipper makeup bag is a fun and functional sewing project.  It is an intermediate sewing project but a strong beginner could give it a try.  I love the look of this bag and the inset zipper pouch is a nice touch.  It is a great size for everything that you need.  This makeup bag is great for home or for travel.  With the inset zipper pouch you really have three compartments for all of your stuff with this bag.

I used a nice cotton fabric for the exterior and lining for this makeup bag that I purchased at JOANN Fabric & Craft Stores but you will find a nice selection at Fabric.com and onlinefabricstore.net for your bag.  This post contains affiliate links that if you click on them and make a purchase I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Take the outer and lining pieces that measure 5″ x 8 3/8″ and the 8″ zipper and place them on your work table.  Take one outer piece and place it right sides up.  Place the zipper right sides down on the outer piece.  Then place a lining piece right sides down on the zipper creating a zipper sandwich.  Stitch the zipper using a zipper foot.  Turnt he piece right side out and topstitch along the zipper .  Repeat the process using the remaining pouch pieces and the other side of the zipper.  Place the outer sides right sides together and the lining sides right sides together matching the raw edges.  Stitch the bottoms using a 3/8″ seam allowance but leave the sides open.  Turn the pouch right sides out.  Stitch the sides using a 1/4″ seam allowance.  Set aside.
