How to Make a Snowman Gift Card Holder
I love gift card holders. Gift cards seem to be the gift of choice these days but finding cute holders is hard. I was inspired to create this holder from some fabric I purchased that had snowmen all over. I thought it would be the perfect way to make a gift card holder special. This is a beginner sewing project though the zipper is a little fidgety. My little snowman shape makes this a pretty simple project to make. The snowmen fabric makes this project extra special. You could use some other fun Christmas fabric if you like.

What You will Need: How to Make a Snowman Gift Card Holder
- Pattern you can get by clicking on this link
- Scraps of outer and lining fabric
- Scraps of Fusible Fleece like Pellon 987F
- 1 4″ zipper
- Standard sewing supplies
Step 1: Cut the fabrics
Using the pattern cut two outer, two lining and two fleece pieces of fabric.
Step 2: Fuse the fleece
Following the manufacturer’s instructions fuse the fleece pieces to the outer snowman pieces.
Step 3: Quilt the Snowman
Using a straight stitch and a 3/8″ seam allowance stitch lines across the outer snowmen pieces for a quilting affect.
Step 4: Add the Zipper
Find the center of the top of the snowman and the center of the zipper and make a mark. Unzip the zipper. Place one half of the zipper right sides down on the outer fabric and pin making sure to fold under the ears of the zipper to ward the wrong side. Stitch the zipper to the outer fabric. Place the lining fabric right sides down On the zipper you just stitched and stitch the zipper to the lining. Repeat for the other side of the zipper. If you are a more advanced sewisit you can stitch the lining, zipper and outer fabric at the same time.
Step 5: Stitch the Snowman
Divide the snowman so that the lining pieces are facing right sides together and the outer pieces are facing right sides together. Stitch all the way around the snowman but leave an opening in the lining for turning. Remember to keep the zipper open.
Step 6: Turn Right Sides Out
Turn the piece snowman right sides out through the opening in the lining and the zipper.
Step 7: Stitch the Opening Closed
Stitch the opening closed using ladder stitch or your machine. Stuff the lining into the outer snowman. Place the gift card into the pouch and close the zipper and give the gift.
