How to Make a Dollar Tree Sunflower Wreath

You never know when you go to Dollar Tree what you will find and what you can do. I came across these bunny wire wreath frames and decided there must be more to do with them. In this instance I decided to put them all together and create a Dollar Tree sunflower wreath for this upcoming summer season. This was a particularly fun and easy craft to create so I thought to share it with you. If you would like more Dollar Tree crafts head over to my Dollar Tree page. Step 1: Combine the Bunny Wreath Forms

Stack the bunny wreath forms so that the ears are pointed in different directions creating a flower shape. Tie them one at a time using Dollar Tree zip ties. Dollar Tree sells two sizes of zip ties, small and large. I started with the small ones and moved to the large ones as the stack got thicker.

Step 2: Add the Fabrics

I purchased a variety of sunflower fat quarters for my project. I cut out pieces just a bit larger than the petals. Using hot glue attach the fabric to each petal underneath. Trim off the excess. You can also use e600 for this if you like. Cover all of the petals.

Step 3: Add the Chunky Yarn

Again, using hot glue attach the yarn to the wire part of each petal on the front side.

Step 4: Glue the Cardboard

I used one 10″ cardboard cake round that I purchased at Michaels for this step but you can just cut a piece of cardboard to fit. Glue the cardboard to the back of the sunflower center using hot glue.

Step 5: Attach the Jute

I used two different colors of jute rope for my project. The dark brown jute was used for the outside of the center circle while the natural color was used to fill in the interior. Hot glue was used to attach both colors of rope.

Step 6: Paint the Bee

Using the Black yellow and white paint cover the wood bee. I used yellow for the body and black for the stripes. The white paint was used to add highlights. I also sprinkled a bit of gold glitter paint for emphasis. Hot glue the bee to the sunflower.

Step 7: Create the Bow

Using a Bowdabra or by hand create a larger bow using sunflower ribbon. The Bowdabra is optional but if you struggle to make bows head over to Southern Charm Wreaths and take their bow making class.

Step 8: Add the Bow and Bees

Using hot glue add the bow to the sunflower. Once it is firmly attached add some small bees using hot glue. I also added a silk sunflower to the center of the bow.
