How to Make a Dollar Tree Uncle Sam Lidded Box

I really hope you enjoy this fun Uncle Sam inspired lidded box. This is a fun patriotic themed lidded box using Dollar Tree craft supplies. It is way easier to make than it looks.. I chose to make Uncle Sam for my box but you could make any number of characters for yours. This is a simple crafting project that you can make to store little trinkets in. What you will Need: How to Make an Uncle Sam Lidded Box

• 1 Dollar Tree mini crate
• 4 large craft sticks
• 1 acrylic board
• 1 Dollar Tree glass urn
• Hot glue
• Red, White, and blue paint
• Skin toned paint
• Paint pens
• Small wood stars
• Styrofoam stars
• Skewers
• Mini candle cups
• Shredded paper
• Masking tape
• Floral foam

Step 1: Create the Inner Box

Measure the inside of your mini crate. Cut the craft sticks a bit smaller than those measurements so that the box you create will fit inside. You will want to cut four craft sticks that you will make into a rectangle. This rectangle will keep the lid of the box from slipping off. Paint the craft sticks red. Glue the sticks together to create a box. Glue the craft sticks together to create the rectangle.

Step 2: Rough up the Acrylic Board

I used a bit of sandpaper to rough up the acrylic board so that my paint would adhere better. Paint the acrylic red.

Step 3: Add the Craft Sticks to the Acrylic

Place the box you created out of the craft sticks onto the center of the acrylic board. I hot glued mine and they held fine.

Step 4: Tape off the glass urn

I taped off the glass urn so that it looked like an Uncle Sam's Hat.

Step 5: Paint the Glass Urn

Using chalk paint, paint the glass urn in red and white stripes. Add a band of blue around the bottom.

Step 6: Paint the Mini Crate

Paint the mini crate a skin tone. Paint the mini candle cups the same color. Once the crate is dry paint the face. Add the candle cups to the bottom of the crate like feet.

Step 7: Paint the Stars

Using white chalk paint, cover the wood stars.

Step 8: Add the Stars

Hot glue the stars to the blue part of the urn.

Step 9: Add the Floral Foam

Cut some floral foam in smaller pieces an glue the pieces inside the top of the urn.

Step 10: Add the Foam Stars

Place the skewers into the foam stars. Insert the foam stars into the floral foam.

Step 11: Add some shredded paper

Take some shredded paper and add it to the top of the urn to cover the floral foam. Once you have added the shredded paper you have finished your Uncle Sam lidded box.
