How to Make a Washcloth Soap Holder
I just love these washcloth soap holders. By placing the soap in the holder I can use the soap and scrub at the same time. I can use my favorite soaps without wasting any of it. This is a fun beginner sewing project that anyone with basic sewing skills can make in just a few minutes. These washcloth soap holders make terrific gifts along with some special scented soaps. Take a few minutes to learn how to make a washcloth soap holder by following this step by step tutorial.

What you will Need: How to Make a Washcloth Soap Holder
- 6 1/4″ x 9 1/4″ piece of terrycloth
- 8″ piece of 1/4″ ribbon
- Standard sewing supplies
Step 1: Cut your fabric
Cut your terry cloth or wash cloth to measure 6 1/4″ x 11 1/8″. Cut your ribbon in a 6″ piece.
Step 2: Hem your Fabric
Sew a single layer hem of 1/4″ all the way around your terry cloth unless you are using a washcloth then just hem the raw edges.
Step 3: Add your Ribbon
Fold your ribbon in half. Measure down 3″ and pin your ribbon in place. Stitch the ribbon an few times for strength.
Step 4: fold your fabric
Fold the top of your fabric until it meets the bottom of the ribbon. Fold down the bottom of the fabric until it reaches the fold and pin. Make sure the ribbon is on the inside of the fabric. Stitch the sides using a 1/4″ seam allowance.
Step 5: Turn right sides out
Turn the holder right sides out so the seems are on the inside and the ribbon is on the outside. Insert your soap and you are ready to go.
