How to Make Dollar Tree Sock People
Unfortunately I was quilting a quilt and my sewing machine died so I am doing another Dollar Tree craft. This is a really cute project that anyone can make. This tutorial will show you step-by-step how to make Dollar Tree sock people. It is getting close to the holidays and Dollar Tree has these fur lied socks in their plus section. What you will Need: How to Make Dollar Tree Sock People
- 1 pair of Dollar Tree fur lined sock
- 1 styrofoam cone
- Dollar Tree Skewer
- Medium sized styrofoam Ball
- Small styrofoam ball or ping pong ball
- 2 wood beads
- Pom Pom
- Blusher
- Black Paint Pen
- White Paint
- Pink Paint
- Gold battery operated votive candle
- Small gold star
- Hot Glue
Step 1: Prepare the Cone
Cut the top off the cone about 1/4 of the way down. This will serve as the body of the sock person.
Step 2: Cut the Sock
Cut the sock where the heel is all the way across.
Step 3: Create the Body
Place the top of the sock over the cone with the fur at the top of the cone. Add some of the remaining fur to the bottom of the body.
Step 4: Create the Head
Place the bottom of the sock over the styrofoam ball. Cut a u-shape curve from the sock. The top of the U will be the front of the face. Trim the bottom of the sock about 1/2″. Place some hot glue around the U you just cut and fold up the sock so that the fur is showing. Attach the ball to the sock using hot glue.
Step 5: Add the Head to the Body
Place the skewer into the styrofoam body. Place the head onto the skewer. You can add some hot glue if you like as well.
Step 6: Create the Pom Pom
Take the piece of sock you trimmed off the hat piece and attach it to the small styrofoam ball so the fur is on the outside. Hot glue it around the ball.
Step 7: Add the Pom Pom
Place the pom pom on top of the head. Attach using hot glue.
Step 8: Create the Arms
Take the remaining pieces of sock and cut out two rectangles that measure 4″ x 2 1/2″ Roll the rectangles into the arms. Using hot glue attach the arms to the side of the body just under the fur. Glue the bottom of the arms to the body. Add some additional fur to the bottom of the arms with hot glue.
Step 9: Add the Hands
Hot glue the beads to the bottom of the arms.
Step 10: Add the Face
Using a round brush place the blusher onto the styrofoam ball that is the face. Add the eyes and eye lashes using the black paint pen. Using the end of a paint brush place white dots on the black eyes. Add some cheeks using the pink paint.
Step 11: Add the Embellishments
Place the candle in the hands and hot glue to attach. Glue the small gold star to the body of the sock person. You have now finished your Dollar Tree sock person.
