Make a Simple Easter Bunny Softie
I recently did a tutorial on how to make a cuddly bunny for Easter. This is a much simpler Easter Bunny Softie that anyone with basic sewing skills can create. It is a small sofite that can easily be tucked into a child’s Easter basket or used as simple home decor. This is yet another one of my bleached drop cloth projects. If you have been following along with these projects you should have more than enough fabric for this little gem. Otherwise any cotton fabric will be perfect this petite softie. The large 1.5″ ribbon really gives this softie some color and style.
What you will Need:
- 1/4 yd drop cloth or other cotton fabric
- 1.5″ ribbon
- Yarn for pom pom tail
- Pom pom maker
- Yarn Needle
Step 1: Make a Simple Easter Bunny Softie
Print out and tape the pattern together.
Step 2: Make a Simple Easter Bunny Softie
Cut out two pattern pieces making sure they are mirror images of each other. You can do this by flipping the pattern over for one the pieces.
Step 3: Make a Simple Easter Bunny Softie
Sew the two pieces together leaving an opening at the bottom for turning and stuffing. Turn right side out. This is a little fidgity given the size of the softie and the shape of the ears. but use a chopstick or knitting needle to poke out the fabric. Be gentle with this as you do not want to poke holes through the fabric.
Step 4: Make a Simple Easter Bunny Softie
Stuff the softie. Again you may need to use a pointy tool to get the stuffing into the ears but it is not too difficult. Close the opening using ladder stitch or slip stitch.
Step 5: Make a Simple Easter Bunny Softie
Create a small pom pom. You can create one using your hands in the same way I did for my pom pom throw or you can use the small pom pom maker as I did for this project. There are complete instructions that come with the pom pom maker so I won’t repeat them here.
Step 6: Make a Simple Easter Bunny Softie
You will notice that you will have two long pieces of yarn or string that was used to tie off the pom pom. Thread one of them onto a yarn needle and Stitch a stitch into the rear of the bunny. Tie the threads together to secure the pom pom to the bunny.
Step 7: Make a Simple Easter Bunny Softie
Add the Bow.
