There is nothing like fresh squeezed orange juice. I love it. I had a large wood round that I got from Michaels and decided that a summer orange themed door hanger would be perfect. With this in mind I came up with this simple crafting project with big summer bang. I love how this project came out I hope you do too. What you will Need: How to Make a Orange Themed Door Hanger
- 1 Wood Door Hanger
- Orange themed ribbon
- Orange burlap ribbon
- Orange check ribbon
- Faux oranges
- Orange chalk paint
- Black Hello word
- Orange napkins
- Green Acrylic Paint
- White Chalk Paint
- Black Paint
- Heavy Duty Stapler
- Tacky Glue
- Sand Paper
- Mod Podge
Step 1: Paint the Wood Round
Start by painting the wood round white using white chalk paint. I did this so that the wood color doesn't seep through the napkins I am using.

Step 2: Paint the Center of Wood Round Green
I chose a green acrylic paint that matched the leaves on the oranges napkin. Once it was completely dry, I dry brushed a lighter color of green to give the green some dimension.

Step 3: Paint the Skewers Black
First cut the skewers on each end at a diagonal so that so that it matches the curve of the wood round. Once the skewers have been cut, paint them black.

Step 4: Add the Mod Podge
Add some Mod Podge onto the white portions of the wood round. Let the Mod Podge completely dry.

Step 4: Add the napkins
The napkins I used are two ply. Remove the bottom ply of the napkin so that there is just the top with the oranges. Place the napkin on top of the white portion of the wood round. Cover the napkin with parchment paper. Using a hot iron press the parchment paper so that the Mod Podge fuses with the napkin and any wrinkles are eliminated. Cover the napkin with another layer off Mod Podge. Use the sand paper to remove the excess napkin.

Step 5: Add the Skewers
I used tacky glue to attach the skewers onto the wood round to cover the seam between the green paint and the decoupaged orange napkins.

Step 6: Attach the Word
Using tacking glue and hot glue attach the word to the center of the green painted strip.

Step 7: Add the Faux Oranges and Flowers
Use a heavy duty staple gun and staple the faux oranges to the top of the wood round. Bend the stems so that the oranges lay around the curve of the wood round. Add a few flowers to the oranges.
Step 9: Add the Bow
Create a bow from the orange ribbon. If you are unfamiliar with how to make a bow or just want to improve your bow making skills. Head over to Southern Charm Wreaths and take one of their bow making courses. Once you have created the bow, hot glue it to the middle of the top of the wood round. Once the is done, add a small orange to the center. You have now finished your Summer Orange Themed Door Hanger.
