As I recently announced in the Facebook group Sew Very Crafty Fans, it appears that Dollar Tree is discontinuing a lot if not all of their craft supplies. I have a stock pile of Dollar Tree supplies that I really need to use but I will try to find links at other locations for the products so you can recreate the project yourself. This St. Patrick's Day Door Hanging is really easy to make but is super cute when it is finished. If you like this project and want more head over to my Dollar Tree page. What you will Need: How to Make a Super Simple St. Patrick's Day Door Hanging
- 1 10″ Wood round
- 1 wood leprechaun leg hanging
- Black paint
- Green paint
- Gold paint
- 1 St. Patrick's Day rainbow plaque
- Permanent vinyl
- Transfer tape
- Cricut or other cutting machine
- St. Patrick's Day Greenery — I got mine at Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby
- St. Patrick's Day Ribbon
- 1 foam shamrock
Step 1: Paint the Leprechaun Legs
First, remove the twine hanger and fill in the holes with spackle. The leprechaun legs can be painted however you like. I went with a traditional theme. I used acrylic paint to paint the pot of gold and the shoes black. The legs themselves were painted green but only so that I could decoupage them. I really wanted plaid legs and it was easier to decoupage them. The buckles were painted gold.

To decoupage the legs paint them the color that matches your patterned paper. Cover the legs with Mod Podge. Let the Mod Podge dry. Place the paper onto the leges and cover with parchment paper. Press the paper using a warm iron so that the Mod Podge fuses the paper to the legs.

Step 2: Paint the Wood Round
Paint the wood round green or another St. Patrick's Day color like orange or white for the Irish flag. I chose green for mine.

Step 3: Hot Glue the Legs to the Round
Place hot glue on the wrong side of the legs. Glue the legs to the wood round so that pot of gold is on the bottom of the round and the legs are hanging down.

Step 4: Add the Rainbow
Place the rainbow on the top of the round about 1-2″ from the top. Hot glue the rainbow to the wood round in that location.

Step 5: Add the Greenery
I found this really cute St. Patrick's Day greenery at Hobby Lobby. These are large picks. I took them apart using some wire cutters. Add the greenery to the top of the round above rainbow. You can use a heavy duty stapler or just hot glue the greenery in place.

Step 6: Create the Bow
Using a Bowdabra create a simple bow. I did not want a large elaborate bow for this project because of everything else going on in the piece. I used a combination of burlap ribbon and St Patrick's Day ribbon to create mine. If you have trouble making bows head over to Southern Charm Wreath and take their bow making course as I did.
Step 7: Attach the Bow
Hot glue the bow to the top center of the wood round on top of the greenery ends. Add the foam shamrock using hot glue.

Step 8: Create the Banner
Using your Cricut and the free SVG create the banner that goes in the center of the pot of gold. To do this ungroup the pieces. Separate the words from the banner. Highlight the words and click unite. Cut the pieces out and transfer them to the pot of gold using transfer tape.

If you do not have a Cricut you can paint the banner and stamp, stencil or write the words.

Step 9: Highlight the Edges
Using the gold paint and a baby wipe rub the edges of the shoes, the pot of gold, banner and clouds. This creates depth and brings out the other shapes.

Step 10: Attach the Hanger
Reattach the twine for hanging. Once that is done so are you. Hang it on your door for this St. Patrick's Day.
